5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Dark Souls

Dark Souls is a mysterious series, and not many people know about it’s story, origins, or random things you could do. Here are the top five facts I gathered!

1. Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne are all successors of the original game, King’s Field.

King’s Field is an RPG developed by FromSoftware, the same company who developed Demon’s and Dark Souls, and Bloodborne. The game is known for it’s difficulty, dungeons, and mazes. It was originally developed on December 16th 1994, 13 days after the PlayStation was released. The game’s 3D was astonishing for the time-period, and received critical acclaim.

2.  Dark Souls was originally to be called Dark Ring, but the name was changed when the developed had found out that Dark Ring was another way of saying anus. They later tried to call it Dark Race, but this could have been misinterpreted as a racist remark, therefore, they decided Dark Souls.

3. Dark Souls was supposed to be released on September 22 in Japan, but some players got the early and went online. The developer’s at FromSoftware were disappointed, made strong characters and invaded their world, and killed them, giving them a true Dark Souls Experience.

4. You can kill Gwynevere, the Princess of Sunlight, like you can kill any other NPC in the game. However, killing her has some consequences, and some fun! Anar Londo will go dark for the rest of the game, and Paint Guardians and Silver Knights will disappear. However, a new class of enemies, Darkmoon Knights appear.

5. The NPC in Dark Souls named “Marvelous Chester” who claims to be from a different period and from a different place. He says he’s from a Victorian/Gothic era, and from his fashion and his weapons, we are led to think that he is from Bloodborne. The Dark Souls Wiki states “It has been suggested that he is from Carim, as the Sniper Crossbow he uses originates from there, but this is only speculation.” You can read more about Marvelous Chester on the Dark Souls Wiki here Looks like Dark Souls was giving us a little taste of Bloodborne!
